Detectives arrested a suspected methamphetamine or “ice” supplier on Wednesday in As Lito.

Lun Lai Xia, 33, jobless, was taken to the Superior Court yesterday afternoon on charges of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $50,000 cash. Preliminary hearing is on Jan. 19, 2012, at 9am. Associate Judge David A. Wiseman appointed the Office of Public Defender to represent Xia.

Detective Dennis Reyes, who took the witness stand yesterday, said that a “cooperating defendant” managed to buy a total of $340 worth of “ice” from Xia in two buy-walk operations.

After the second buy-walk, which allegedly happened near a school, detectives followed the suspect’s car and arrested him. Reyes said the substance recovered from the suspect tested presumptive positive for “ice.”

Xia told the court he has been on Saipan for seven months now. Saipan Tribune learned that the suspect had already been on Saipan before and had just come back.
