The Northern Mariana Islands Government Group Health Insurance program wishes to advise its membership of several important changes to its regulations to provide health insurance benefits consistent with those required by the U.S. Affordable Care Act.

GHLI’s regulations now specify that for those enrolled in the GHI, there will be no annual limits, no lifetime limits, and children can be covered up to age 26, despite being married, having a job, having other insurance available or other factors that previously precluded them being “dependents.” A number of Commonwealth government employees have inquired about extended coverage for their dependents who previously would not have been eligible for coverage. The board is pleased to provide these broadened benefits in response to these inquiries, available from Jan 1, 2012. (NMIRF)
