WASHINGTON, D.C.—Guam Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo announced yesterday that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $216,147.50 in federal grant assistance to the Government of Guam. The grant was awarded through the State and Community Highway Safety Grant Program, which is intended to help states and local communities develop and implement highway safety programs designed to reduce traffic accidents, deaths, injuries and property damage. This program is administered by the National Highway Safety Administration and will directly benefit the Guam Department of Public Works’ Office of Highway Safety.

“The formula grant will help address our island’s highway safety problems,” Bordallo said. “This grant highlights the federal government’s continued investment in infrastructure improvements on Guam, and the funds will help the Department of Public Works in carrying out its mission.  I look forward to its implementation increasing the safety of Guam’s roadways.” (PR)
