Fitial not LFC heavyweight champ
Legend Fighting Championship recently wrote to Saipan Tribune and clarified that current Pacific Xtreme Championship heavyweight titleholder Kelvin “The Big Hit” Fitial is not the Legend FC heavyweight champion.
In an email from the mixed martial arts fights promotions company’s Mike Haskamp, he said although the Marianas Elite front man won against South Korea’s “Hungry” Hae Jun Yang in their September 2010 bout in Legend FC 3, the matchup was a non-title bout despite it being the main event.
It will be recalled that Fitial bested the Team Busan MAD fighter at 3:16 of the first round by technical knockout due to punches.
The Fitial-Yang fight marked Legend FC’s very first heavyweight match. Legend FC focuses on fighters born and raised exclusively in the Asia-Pacific region.
The majority of these athletes compete at lighter weight classes, thus making it a challenge for Legend FC to confirm another definite appearance for Fitial any time soon.
Although they are interested in inviting Fitial back for another fight, it is difficult for them to land him a worthy opponent.
Fitial, who is also Trench Tech’s People’s Champ, in an earlier interview said he is mum on his next move, but says he is waiting to hear offers after beating Roque Martinez for the PXC heavyweight championship belt in Manila, Philippines in March 2011.
