The Division of Environmental Quality’s cleanup brigade will be at it again, picking up trash at Lao Lao Bay, Saipan this Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, starting at 8am.

If you would like to volunteer your time to clean and beautify our island, meet with the other volunteers at the new parking lot near the picnic area (also known as South Laolao Bay). Volunteers will split into groups and clean until 10am and break for drinks and then continue, if needed.

This month, outstanding brigade volunteers who participated in at least 10 monthly cleanups will receive a brigade cap and those who participated in at least three cleanups will receive a green brigade T-shirt.

Last month, at the Dec. 17 cleanup at Old Man by the Sea was very successful with over 80 volunteers participating. Thanks to Hopwood’s My Wave Club, MHS students, NMC’s Upward Bound Program, CUC and other volunteers, some 860 lbs of trash was removed from the beach and properly disposed of. DEQ thanks D&Q for its support in providing refreshments.

DEQ is looking forward to a repeat of its success at Lao Lao Bay this Saturday, so join DEQ’s cleanup brigade and “Pick It Up!”
