Only half of the congregates at the Aging Center will be taking part in their Christmas exchange gift, according to Saipan Seniors Advisory Council chair Teresita Sorroza.

As she addressed the congregates in yesterday’s meeting, Sorroza said only 33 of about 70 man’amko expressed interest in participating in the annual holiday activity.

When asked for their reason why they won’t join the activity, several of the man’amko gave varied reasons, from having medical appointments to just not wanting to participate.

Sorroza told the congregates, “It’s not just about giving and receiving. It’s about unity because majority of the group already voted to do this.”

After appealing to her fellow man’amko, Sorroza was able to get seven more congregates to join the exchange gift which will take place at the center on Dec. 22.

“It would be nice to share with the other man’amko the spirit of Christmas through this activity,” added Sorroza.
