A former Commonwealth Ports Authority firefighter who is still on probation for assaulting his former girlfriend, was arrested again on Friday—this time for allegedly turning violent, pushing his brother, and challenging him to a fight.

Giovanni Camacho Sablan, 23, was set to appear yesterday afternoon in Superior Court on charges of assault and battery and disturbing the peace.

A $1,250 cash bail was initially imposed for Sablan’s temporary release.

Sablan, a mixed martial arts fighter, is also known as “The Fighter” and “Palaksi or “Palaxi.”

Detective Patrick P. Sablan said that, on Friday at 8:35am a police officer was sent to San Antonio after Giovanni Sablan’s mother called for police’s assistance.

The detective said the mother informed the officer that her son, Giovanni Sablan, became violent at their residence so she got scared and took away the children who were crying.

When the officer arrived at the house, Giovanni Sablan was packing some clothes and told his mother he was getting out of the house if that’s what she wanted.

The firefighter walked out from the house, showed his mother his middle finger and said a profanity at her.

The mother told the officer that they were having breakfast when Giovanni Sablan asked to use the car, but his brother explained he needed the vehicle to fix some papers for his Northern Marianas College classes.

Giovanni Sablan got mad and started kicking the chairs and baby bicycle. He then pushed his brother on the chest and challenged him to a fight.

The defendant then started yelling and cussing, prompting his mother to leave the house with the children. The mother then called the police.

Police arrested the defendant at 9:55am that same day.

Last October, Superior Court associate judge Perry B. Inos slapped a 58-day jail term on Giovanni Sablan for assaulting his former girlfriend in the parking lot of Aquarius Hotel in Chalan Kanoa.

Inos sentenced the defendant to a total of one year and six months, all suspended except for 58 days, for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Inos gave the 23-year-old defendant credit for the 58 days he already served in jail.

Inos placed the defendant on supervised probation for two years and ordered him to pay a $200 fine, $200 probation fee, and $25 court assessment fee.

Inos required Sablan to complete, among other things, a second counseling session for anger management at the Community Guidance Center and undergo any recommended course of counseling or treatment.
