Two drunk men allegedly beat up another man and threw rocks at his vehicle outside a bar in Garapan in the early morning hours of Dec. 1.

Kevin I. Esteves, 21, and Bradley DLR. Palacios, 20, were arrested shortly after the incident. They were booked and detained at the Department of Corrections and were later released.

Police officers said the victim, John Hamilton, sustained a swollen and bruised right eye and lip.

The driver side window of Hamilton’s Nissan pickup truck was damaged. Three to five rocks, each about the size of a baseball, were found on the floor and passenger seat of the truck.

Police served Esteves with an arrest warrant on Thursday night in Garapan on charges of assault, assault and battery, criminal mischief, disturbing the peace, and minor consuming alcohol. Hi bail was set at $500 cash. If he fails to post bail, preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 28 at 9am.

It was not immediately clear whether Palacios has also been served with a warrant.

Police reports state that two police officers responded to Ace Pool Bar in Garapan on Dec. 1 at 1:10am after receiving a call about a disturbance.

Police said that Palacios initially claimed that Hamilton assaulted his friend, Esteves.

One police officer, however, spotted Hamilton sitting on the second floor of the bar. The victim was covering his injured right eye.

The officers then learned during an interview with Hamilton that Esteves and Palacios beat him up after he refused to shake hands with them. Esteves and Palacios allegedly punched and kicked the victim.

A witness tried to stop the suspects from further beating Hamilton. The suspects, however, continued and one of them, Esteves, allegedly told Palacios that they would kill Hamilton.

Hamilton managed to break free and ran to the rear part of the building where he hid.

Esteves and Palacios then threw rocks at the victim’s pickup, shattering a window, police said.
