In celebration of its 10th year anniversary, Beach Road Magazine will launch its first Jungle Bell Mountain Bike and Road Race scheduled to kick off this Sunday, Dec. 18.

Beach Road Magazine will be working hand in hand with the Northern Mariana Islands Cycling Federation which aims to enhance the sport of cycling in the CNMI and promote island-wide and international cycling events.

Interested participants can register in advance at the Transpac Business center in Gualo Rai and also at 5:30am on the day of the competition. The race starts at 6:30am. Registration is $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 11 and under.

The competition includes a children’s race, a mountain bike short and long course, and a road course. Young children must circle the Paupau Beach parking lot once while the older children must circle it twice; participating children are asked to decorate their bikes in the Christmas spirit.

The children’s race will be held after the MTB and Road Races. The MTB short course competitors will start off at Paupau Beach, head left out of the parking lot to the Marianas Country Club Road, bear right onto Binadu Drive, turn left at “T”, head behind the golf course to Marpi Parkway, turn right and head down the Kimikaze trail, then take a left to the Grotto Road, another left down the Santa Claus trail, and head straight back to Paupau Beach via the landfill road. The long course will include the Autobahn trail, Santa Claus Lane, the Banzai Trail, and head back down to Paupau Beach.

Beach Road Magazine’s Susan Marchitti says, “I’m very excited at the opportunity of partnering up with the NMICF. I recognize the value of what they’re doing. I’m glad that we have an event that we can share with them to promote this exciting and growing sport and to help us put on a professional bike race.”

Marchitti hopes to have at least 100 participants in this coming event. All participants must wear helmets.

Beach Road Magazine would like to thank the following for their donations to this event: NTT Docomo Pacific, Subway, Brabu Pharmacy, The Athlete’s Foot, Boarderline, PHI Pharmacy, Hollywood Theaters, Megabyte, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Coca-Cola, Pacific Islands Club, Saipan Grand Hotel, Marianas Visitors Authority, Triple J Wholesale, Gold’s Gym, Taro Sue, Tropical Blend Spa, Shell, Delta Management Co., 360 Restaurant, Scoops, National Office Supply, Herman’s Modern Bakery, Saipan Sea Ventures, MARPAC, R & M Printers, and Lollipops.
