Magazine names 2011 Executive of the Year nominees

TAMUNING, Guam—Guam Business Magazine announced yesterday the names of the nominees for the 2011 Executive of the Year.

They are: James L. Adkins, president of East West Rental Center Inc.; Michael R. Ady, president of M80 Systems Inc.; John T. Calvo, president and general manager of Mid-Pacific Distributors Inc.; Ronald E. Cannoles, executive vice president and Pacific Islands division manager, Bank of Hawaii; Eloy S. Lizama, executive vice president, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer of IP&E Holdings LLC; and Jay R. Shedd, president and chief executive officer of Docomo Pacific.

The annual Executive of the Year award recognizes executives who have made outstanding contributions to the business community and raised the bar in the field in which they are involved.

Past recipients include Robert H. Jones of Triple J Enterprises (1983); William R. Thompson of Aon Insurance Micronesia (1997); John K. Lee of First Hawaiian Bank (1998); Marian Aldan-Pierce of DFS Saipan (2000); Juan T. Guerrero of Herman’s Modern Bakery Inc. (2003); David M. Sablan of Century Group of Companies (2005); Laura Lynn V. Dacanay of First Hawaiian Bank (2008); Jerry Tan of Tan Holdings (2009); and Lourdes A. “Lou” Leon Guerrero of Bank of Guam (2010).

Guam Business Magazine will celebrate the 29th Guam Business Magazine Executive of the Year award at a gala on Jan. 14, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Guam. The name of the winner has traditionally been held secret by the magazine until the announcement of the winner at the gala.

The January-February issue of Guam Business Magazine, featuring a commissioned portrait of the winner on its cover, will also be unveiled that night.

Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross.
