Raho completes healthcare corp. board; management team also created
Anthony Raho, a longtime employee of the Commonwealth Health Center, was named the last member of the seven-member board Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.
Healthcare corp. chief executive officer Juan N. Babauta disclosed Raho’s appointment in an interview yesterday at the Saipan Chamber of Commerce general membership meeting.
Raho has been the hospital’s inpatient pharmacist for over 19 years. He will represent the non-physician employees of the CHC and will take part in the decision-making for the public hospital. Raho bested other nominees for the post and his selection was welcomed yesterday by the CEO.
The other board members are chair Joaquin Torres, Pedro Dela Cruz, Roy Rios, Anthony Aguon, Dr. Michael Deary, and Babauta.
Babauta has also created a seven-member management team who will directly work with him. The group is composed of financial officer Esther Muña, Medical Services director Karen Buettner, Dr. Michael Leary as director for Medical Affairs, medical director for Public Health Dr. Dan Lamar, Nursing director Leticia Reyes, director of Public Health Services Roxanne Diaz, legal counsel James Kearney, and executive officer James Phillips. Five of these appointees are from within the corporation.
Babauta said that creating the team saves the corporation from hiring outside experts, which could cost the organization up to $500,000.
“The decision really is to draw on our talents—in-house and within our system,” he said.
