MLSC board meets on Saipan
The board of directors of Micronesian Legal Services Corp. recently concluded its biannual meeting on Saipan.
The board members include CNMI representative Lucia Blanco-Maratita, Kosrae Senator Chang William; Republic of the Marshall Islands Minister of Justice Branson Wase; Mayor of Kolonia Town, Pohnpei, Marcelo Peterson; Chuuk Senator Arno Kony; Yap representative Michael Ga’an; Palauan representative Danny Ongelungel; and two at-large members, Alik Alik (RMI) and Robert Ruecho (Guam).
Former Associate Justice Jesus “Jesse” S. Borja gave the opening remarks. Borja worked for MLSC as an intern, as a lawyer, as deputy director, and then served on its board of directors. He is a former associate justice of the CNMI Supreme Court and former CNMI lieutenant governor. Now he acts as legal counsel to the Northern Marianas College.
At its luncheon on Wednesday, the MLSC board honored Saipan employee Maria Palacios Muña for her 40 years of dedicated service in the Marianas Office. Muña started work as a secretary on Dec. 6, 1971 and, after many years, became a paralegal. She handles a variety of tasks, with a heavy emphasis on domestic cases, and recently has helped with immigration matters. She will continue to be a valuable and valued employee of the Marianas Office.
