[B]Traffic signal at SV-Dandan junction to be activated today[/B]

The Department of Public Works is informing the public that it will activate the traffic signal in the San Vicente/Dandan intersection today, Dec. 2. The project is fully funded by the Federal Highway Administration under the U.S. Department of Transportation. A ribbon cutting ceremony that would mark the functioning traffic signal is slated next week. (DPW)

[B]Power outage on Navy Hill tomorrow[/B]

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. would like to inform the public that there will be a power outage tomorrow, Dec. 3, from 5:30am to 8:30am. Areas affected will be portions of Lower Navy Hill, Upper Navy Hill, and areas along Navy Hill Road leading toward the water reservoir and Maui 4. Water and sewer services located in these areas will also be affected. The power distribution crew will be replacing a rotted primary power poles and will be performing line clearing. This outage is necessary to allow the linemen to work safely on the power lines. (CUC)

[B]Chamber’s December meeting set[/B]

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly general membership meeting this coming Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Hotel in Garapan, Saipan. Luncheon will begin at 11:30am and the general membership meeting will begin at 12pm.

Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Juan N. Babauta will do a presentation on what will be accomplished as a result of the creation of the corporation.

SCC will be hosting its Student Exploration Day that same day, and the 57 students being sponsored by SCC members will be attending the luncheon as well.

Luncheon is $15 for SCC members. Guests and non-SCC members are charged $20. (SCC)
