Paire, MP United oust opponents

Paire FC U12 and MP United U12 advanced to the next round of the 2011 Boys and Girls FA Cup (co-ed U12 and girls U15) after beating separates foes last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.

Paire U12 won over Tan Holdings FC U12, 4-0, while MP United U12 edged Matansa FC U12, 3-2.

John Auther scored twin goals for Paire, while Gideon Borja and Herald Lee added one apiece. Auther made both goals in the first half, while Borja also nailed his lone goal in the opening 30 minutes of the match. Lee gave Paire its only goal in the second half.

In the MP United-Matansa pairing, Moris Villanueva also tallied two goals for the former, while Alex Park hit one. All of MP United’s goals were drilled in the first half. Matansa had one apiece in the first and second half with James Ermitanio finding the back of the net in the 22nd minute and then scoring his second goal in the 51st.

MP United is in Pool B of the FA Cup, which is being held to culminate the fall season of the NMIFA youth league. MP United U12 will next duel Tan Holdings FC girls U15 this Saturday at 3pm at the Hopwood pitch.

Other pairing in Pool B is Paire girls U15 versus Matansa girls U15 and these two teams will also play this Saturday at 1pm. Winners of the two Pool B matches will advance to the FA Cup semifinals that will take place on Dec. 5 in Hopwood.

In Pool A, opening-day winner Paire co-ed U12 will collide against Shirley’s FC U12 this Saturday at 3pm. In the first game in Pool A at 1pm, MP United girls U15 will take on Shirley’s FC girls U15. Victors of the Pool A games this Saturday will march into the Final Four round. The top finisher in Pools A and B will battle for the championship on Dec. 10, also at Hopwood.

Meanwhile, the FA Cup for boys U15 and U18 and two women’s squads will start on Dec. 3.

The separate FC Cup for this group is also divided into two pools. Pool A has MP United U15 Blue, Matansa boys U15, Paire boys U18, MP United boys U18, and Paire women’s squad. MP United U15 Silver, Matansa boys U18, Tan Holdings boys U15, Paire boys U15, and Shirley’s FC women’s team comprised Pool B.

Four games will be played at the start of the FA Cup with MP United Blue taking on Matansa boys U15 at 8:30am at the Oleai Sports Complex. In the second match at 11am, also at the Oleai pitch, Tan Holdings boys U15 will challenge Paire boys U15. Over at Hopwood, MP United boys U18 will meet Paire’s women’s team at 8:30am, while Matansa boys U18 will square off against Shirley’s FC women’s squad at 11am.
