The popular Japanese country music group from Akasaka, G GAP, is on Saipan once more to hold a benefit show for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that wreaked havoc in Japan last March.

G GAP Live in Saipan will be staged at the Country House Restaurant in Garapan on Nov. 18 and 19.

Guests can choose to watch the Dinner Time live show from 5:30pm to 8:30pm for a local rate of $25 per person and tourist rate of $35 per person. Both rates include one drink.

Tickets for the Cocktail Time live show, which include one drink and appetizer from 9pm to end of show, are priced at $25 per person for local residents and $35 per person for tourists.

To avail of local rates, guests must present a valid ID by the entrance.

There is also an option for the combined Dinner & Cocktail Time Live show, inclusive of two drinks and appetizer, for only $40 per person. Tickets are limited.

Formed in 2000, G GAP is composed of Ryuji Hirao, guitar and vocals; Naomi Amemiya, electronic guitar and vocals; Yuichiro Nagasaka, bass and vocals; Keigo Nakajima, drums and vocals; and Yasuharu Muranaka, pedal steel guitar.

G GAP, which also performs English ‘80s and ‘90s rock music, first came to the island in April, after which they were encouraged to hold another show, said Country House general administrator Kay Irinaka.

“It’s going to be exciting because their fans from Japan coordinated their own tour and will be here for the show,” Irinaka told Saipan Tribune.

Irinaka also disclosed that G GAP will shoot the cover for their latest album during their trip. “Since their first show, they really had a connection with the island,” she added.

Irinaka encouraged the community to support the show and noted that the event will help encourage more visitors from Japan once it recovers from the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami.

“This show will help the CNMI also, mainly because the fans who are coming are first-time visitors. People will then start to have interest to come to Saipan through this event,” she said.
