No advice yet on Obama’s Guam stopover—admin

The Fitial administration has yet to receive official communication about President Barack Obama’s reported stopover in Guam late Saturday night for refueling on his way back to the United States from Indonesia, press secretary Angel Demapan.
Because of this, neither Gov. Benigno R. Fitial nor any other CNMI official is scheduled to go to Guam this weekend.
“We don’t even know if it’s just a fuel stop. We haven’t been advised of any meeting with officials [from the Marianas],” Demapan said.
The press secretary previously said that Fitial had invited Obama to visit the CNMI at the National Governors Association meeting in Washington, D.C. in February. Demapan said the governor also invited Vice President Joe Biden during one of their conversations at the White House.
Back in September, Guam Delegate Madeleine Bordallo invited Obama to visit Guam during his scheduled trip to Asia-Pacific this month. At the time, some CNMI officials saw another opportunity to also invite the president to the Commonwealth. Bordallo’s office has yet to respond to media inquiries about any stopover.
