The Saipan Bowling Association’s November roll-offs produced first-time winners in Alex Castro, Lala Taitano, and John Taisacan.

Castro topped the Budweiser King of the Lanes tournament after scoring 797 pinfalls in Day 2 of the monthly competition last Monday night at the Capitol Bowling Center. Castro clinched the November title after his strong showings in the last two games where he knocked down 235 and 236 pins, respectively. In Games 1 and 2, Castro tallied 162 and 164 pinfalls for an average of 199.25 pinfalls.

Joining Castro in the Top 3 were Roger De Guzman and Paul Pangelinan, who also bowled only in the second day of the event. De Guzman had a four-game total of 768 pinfalls (189, 210, 197, and 172) to finish second, while Pangelinan claimed third place after his 705 pinfalls (168, 166, 186, and 185).

Day 1 leader Raphael Zapanta , who recorded 671 pinfalls last Sunday, dropped to sixth place. He also joined the Monday roll-off, but managed only 629 pinfalls. In the monthly roll-offs, bowlers are allowed to compete for two days, but only the higher score is counted.

In the Fiji Prince of the Lanes tournament, Taisacan ended Marion McKenzie and M.J. Aldan’s reign in the youth competition after the former collected 615 pinfalls in the Sunday roll-off. McKenzie and Aldan, who alternately recorded winning streaks in the first 10 monthly tournaments, finished second and fourth, respectively, in the November roll-off.
