Do you have the same questions on your mind?

Why did USCIS take over immigration control of contract workers? This question makes me wonder whether it was because there is something we don’t see or because of the CNMI lawmakers inability to control the growing demand for contract workers.

Other than to invest and pay taxes, aren’t investors supposed to create jobs for the people of the CNMI? I mean on Thursday, an article that raised questions on the job announcements makes me wonder if the reason for them being here is to take over the decision made in hiring foreign workers who are now controlling majority of the workforce in the CNMI and CNMI resident are left with very few jobs.

The other question is, did USCIS took over because of our inability to control labor and decrease unemployment among local residents? One good example is a Saipan lawmaker’s concern on the casino bill, which is not as important as these takeover issues. I mean, shouldn’t these lawmakers be worried about what will happen to our economy if majority of these businesses shut down because they can’t afford to continue their business without the reliable workforce they need? I mean shouldn’t they try and save the remaining investors we have that are generating revenue now?

Shouldn’t you start cleaning up your mess? Like the hiring of political employees whom you need to start helping, so they can also help you. What if you start looking into the CNMI government workforce and implement a program to improve your workforce by helping these employees qualify for the position they’re holding? Wouldn’t it be nice if all government employees know their duties and responsibilities, plus what further trainings and education they need to improve themselves and the CNMI government? I would, because if I know what I am doing, I wouldn’t be looking for someone to blame if I get caught doing nothing. And knowing what to do makes the task easier to perform and to identify what needs to be done. Not only that, we might gain trust, respect and support from others. I believe that if we do this, the federal government will have plenty of support to give us, plus jobs for locals would increase and the federal minimum wages wouldn’t be a problem for everyone.
