Police arrested Wednesday afternoon a 41-year-old man who allegedly molested a girl on Rota.

Joaquin Taga Fujihira was served with an arrest warrant at 2:02pm in Sinapalo 2, Rota, on charges of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree and second degree, indecent exposure in the first degree, child abuse, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Superior Court associate judge Kenneth L. Govendo retained the bail at $66,000 cash. Preliminary hearing will be on Nov. 17 at 1:30pm.

Police said that investigation began after a detective received a call from the Division of Youth Services on Saipan on Nov. 3 about an anonymous call relating to a possible sexual abuse of a minor.

In an interview, the child reportedly told police that Fujihira touched her private parts sometime in the summer of 2007. The girl pushed Fujihira away and told him to stop. The suspect allegedly gave her money and told her not to tell anyone.
