California native and Association of Volleyball Professionals veteran Jeff Carlucci will be featured in the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association’s free volleyball clinic this Saturday at the Fiesta Resort & Spa beachside.

The 6’6” Carlucci is a former tennis standout until he was introduced to volleyball during his senior year of high school.

Surprisingly, in just his first year Carlucci led his team to a division title, was selected as the MVP of the league, made first-team California Interscholastic Federation, was selected as a “Fab-50” player, was a Mizuno All-American player, and even won the 1997 Junior Olympics.

Carlucci went on to win back-to-back championships for Golden West College.

He took up the beach volley scene in 1998 and by 1999 was deemed the second-ranked amateur before joining the Association of Volleyball Professionals in 2000, and 10 years later he is still considered as one of the Top 100 players in the USA.

The NMIVA clinic, meanwhile, is set from 8am to 10am and will be conducted by CNMI national team coach Russ Quinn along with national players Tyce Mister and Chris Nelson.

The clinic is open to all players 10 years or older; parental supervision is requested for players under 14.

Everyone is invited and there are no fees to participate, just bring athletic clothing and drinks; transportation is not provided.

The clinic will cover basic fundamentals, game strategy, and conditioning.
