Consulate closed for 4 days this Nov. for holidays

The Philippine Consulate General on Saipan will not be open to the public several days this month in observance of holidays in the Philippines, CNMI, and the United States.
The office will be closed on Monday, Nov. 7, after Philippine President Benigno Aquino III issued Proclamation No. 84 declaring it a holiday in observance of Eidul Adha or Feast of Sacrifice, one of the two most important Islamic festivals.
Included in the proclamation is the observance of Bonifacio Day on Nov. 30 in honor of Philippine revolutionary hero Andres Bonifacio.
The Consulate will also be closed in observance of two annual federal holidays: on Nov. 11, Veterans Day, which honors military veterans; and Nov. 24, Thanksgiving Day, celebrated every fourth Thursday of the month and one of the major holidays in the U.S.
Consul General Medardo Macaraig told the Filipino community to be guided accordingly.
“During these days, registration and certification for overseas absentee voters shall also be suspended and shall resume the following work day,” said Macaraig.
The Consulate, however, will be open for its One-Saturday or Sunday-A-Month services on Nov. 19, Saturday, from 9am to 4pm.
