Defending champion Matansa Football Club reclaimed the lead in the girls U15 division after a 1-0 victory over Tan Holdings FC in Week 6 of the 2011 NMIFA Youth Football Fall League last Saturday at the San Antonio Elementary School Field.

Matansa, which absorbed its first loss at the hands of Shirley’s FC in Week 5, 0-1, regrouped against Tan Holdings to improve to a 4-0-1 win-draw-loss card—one win ahead of the second-running Shirley’s FC.

Jace Pineda scored the lone goal in the match to deny Tan Holding’s bid for its first win in the season. Tan Holdings holds a 0-1-4 slate.

MP United 3, Paire FC 0

In the other girls U15 match, MP United shut out Paire FC.

Hae Ri Kim made twin goals for MP United, while Jamie Mariano contributed one. MP United kept the No. 3 spot in the team standings with its 2-2-1 card, while Paire dropped to a 1-0-4 record for fourth place.

Mariano gave MP United its first goal and Kim also scored in the first half for MP United’s 2-0 lead. Kim found the back of the net anew in the second half, bringing MP United’s total goals in five games to 10.

BOYS U15
Matansa 6, Tan Holdings 5

Over at the Hopwood Junior High School Field, Matansa ended Tan Holdings FC’s winning run.

Tan Holdings came into the Hopwood pitch undefeated in three games and seemed headed for another win after leading at the break, 3-2. However, Matansa drew two goals from David Bucayo in the second half and Jireh Yobech and Evans Belcher added one apiece to steal the win.

With the victory, Matansa improved to a 3-1-1 slate and bumped off Tan Holdings (3-1-0) in second place. MP United 1 is at the No. 1 spot with its perfect 5-0-0 record.

Tan Holdings FC led at halftime after drawing a hat-trick from Tanapon Unsa. Jobech scored the two goals for Matansa in the first 45 minutes of play.

In the second half, Tan Holdings failed to keep the driver’s seat, as Unsa was held to one field goal. Tan Holding’s other goal in the second half came from Isaac Anderson.

Paire FC 2, MP United 2 1

In the second game in the boys U15, Paire edged MP United.

Paire gained its third win in five games to share the No. 3 spot with Tan Holdings, while MP United remained in fourth place with its 1-2-2 card.

Brian Lee posted the first goal for Paire in the opening frame and Chris Park hit the equalizer for MP United 2. In the second half, Jeff Cheon broke into the scoreboard to lift Paire to victory.

Shirleys 2 3, Shirley’s 1 0

In the battle of sister teams, the all-female crew of Shirley’s 2 downed Shirley’s 1.

The win was Shirley’s 1 first in six games, while Shirley’s 2 finished the first round of the fall league winless in six matches.

Reylynn Sapong canned two goals for Shirley’s 2, while Glorily Williams scored the other goal.

Meanwhile, the lone boys U18 match between MP United and Matansa were called off due to the unplayable Oleai Sports Complex Field.
