Tomorrow, Oct. 29, 2011, Marianas Agupa will feature retiree members of the NMI Retirement Fund to talk about issues surrounding retirees’ benefits and the outlook of their quest against the Fund’s past consultants and managers between 10am and 10:30am. The show is from 9am to 11am on Magic 100.3 FM.
The Chamorro radio talk show program is hosted by Glenn H. Manglona with reports by former mayor Joseph S. Inos, a report from Rota by Thomas D. [B]Learn how to make koronas from pandanus[/B]The Inetnon Amot yan Kutturan Natibu/Mwiischil Safey me Kkoor Aramasal Faluw is offering free lessons to Chamorros and Carolinians on making koronan matai for All Souls Day at the Saipan Chamorro-Carolinian Village Cultural Centers Headquarters (1213 Capitol Hill Road, across from the Workforce Investment Agency and next to the CNMI Board of Parole Office) on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011. The lessons will be from 9:30am to 12pm. The materials to be used are coconut and pandanus leaves. Ready-made koronas will also be on sale during this time.
These lessons are offered by the Association of Native Medicine and Culture, in partnership with the Indigenous Affairs Office and funded in part by the Administration for Native Americans. For more information, call 322-0278. (PR)
[B]NMI Labor to host job fair[/B]The CNMI Department of Labor, in partnership with the business sector, will be sponsoring a job fair this Nov. 2, 2011, Wednesday, at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. All U.S. citizens, CNMI permanent residents, U.S. permanent residents, and all others who are interested are invited to apply directly to companies for jobs in which they are qualified, available, and are interested to fill. [B]DoD public access plan deadline nears[/B]Guam and CNMI residents have until Monday, Oct. 31, to submit public comments about the Department of Defense Public Access Plan. The Public Access Plan is associated with the Marine Corps realignment. The plan is intended to facilitate visits to cultural and historic sites of interest and significance located on DoD properties in Guam and the CNMI. [B]BOG’s photo contest deadline today [/B]The deadline to submit entries to the Bank of Guam Photography Contest is today, Oct. 28, 2011. The contest is open to all high school students through Guam, the CNMI, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands. Photo must be taken throughout Guam, the CNMI, Palau, FSM or RMI and certified by the student(s). Each student is limited to two photos each. Entry forms are available at all high schools, Bank of Guam branches and its website www.bankofguam.com. The contest theme is Our Island, Our Home. Entries should be a minimum 4X6 print in color or black and white. For digital photos, copy to a CD and include a printed copy of the photo.
