The Garapan Community Development Center, Rollers Basketball Club, Vice Speaker Felicidad Ogumoro, and Rep. Edmund Villagomez are hosting the 2011 Trick or Treat 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament this weekend at the Garapan Basketball Court.
Organizers are expected to start the event at 11am on Oct. 29 and the competition will conclude the following day.
The event features four age divisions, which include coed U10, U12, and U14 along with both an 18U A and B girls only division.
The tournament is set under FIBA 33 rules.
Cultura Athletics and some veteran RBC members will be on hand serving as volunteer scoring officials and referees.
Entrance fee is $10 per team; teams are limited to four players per roster.
“We wanted to give kids something fun to do during the holiday weekend, in addition to featuring an event that focuses on some of the up and coming female players in the community,” said RBC head coach Joe Diaz in a phone interview yesterday.
Medals will be awarded to the Top 2 place finishers in each division, in addition to various in kind prizes provided by sponsors Micronesian Brokers, Inc., IT&E, and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation.
Proceeds from the event will go toward RBC’s upcoming trip to Guam for the 2011 Take Care Thanksgiving Hoopfest basketball tournament.
