The Office of the Attorney General has charged a man who allegedly assaulted a relative and fired a handgun in As Teo last Oct. 11.

The OAG charged Justin Funkugub, 35, with assault and battery, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and disturbing the peace.

Assistant attorney general Shelli Neal stated in the charging information that Funkugub beat up a household member on Oct. 11.

Neal said the defendant was found in possession of a gun and ammunitions without holding a valid firearm identification card.

Funkugub was taken to the Superior Court last Oct. 12. Associate judge David A. Wiseman found probable cause to find the defendant’s arrest is justified.

Wiseman imposed a $10,000 cash bail for the defendant’s temporary release.

During preliminary hearing last Wednesday, the court found probable cause to warrant the filing of charges against the defendant.

The court ordered Funkugub to answer the four charges.

According to court records, police officers responded to the As Teo area after receiving a call about someone shooting a gun.
