VS Sablan Plaza boast of islands’ only indoor bazaar

Tired of al fresco shopping that either gets you sunburned or doused in cold rain? Head out to VS Sablan Plaza in Chalan Piao for the island’s only indoor bazaar.

The remnants of what was once an unoccupied building is no more after property owner Sablan Enterprises Inc. spruced it up and turned it into a charming commercial building that has drawn the interest of small-scale entrepreneurs that sell an array of new and used goods.

With about 10 merchants occupying a spacious 7,147 square feet of acreage, VS Sablan Plaza is now bustling with commercial activities and is fast becoming the go-to place for bargain hunters looking for a wide array of merchandise ranging from clothing and accessories to toys and crafts.

Stores like Melanie’s Outlet, which carries all sorts of knick-knacks, and Megan’s Parlor & Michael’s Boutique, which offers salon services and trendy clothes, have already set up shop at VS Sablan Plaza.

Ben Sablan, realty manager for Sablan Enterprises Inc., said that more boutiques and stores, including an ice cream parlor, have expressed interest in leasing their stalls. In fact, VS Sablan Plaza will soon have a snack bar, thanks to Sandjuvy Restaurant.

“We’ve been receiving a lot of inquiries about our commercial spaces. We even have a waiting list already. It’s a very successful indoor bazaar,” he told Saipan Tribune.

What’s good about the indoor bazaar, Sablan said, is the convenience that it gives shoppers who are on the look out not only for great deals but also for the ultimate shopping experience.

“Rain or shine, you can shop at the VS Sablan Plaza’s indoor bazaar without any hassle. We have ample parking and we also installed wall fans throughout our halls to keep both buyers and sellers cool and comfortable without worrying too much about the high cost of utilities and they are very happy about that,” he said.

Sablan said the increasing interest of both customers and entrepreneurs in VS Sablan Plaza’s indoor bazaar is also due to its slick facilities.

“VS Sablan Plaza prides itself in maintaining a topnotch and very clean building that’s very family-oriented,” he said.

Sablan also emphasized that VS Sablan Plaza is open Monday to Sunday, from 9am to 9pm. “We’re open seven days a week so you can buy your needs from us any day.”

Sablan said that renting a stall at VS Sablan Plaza is on a monthly basis. “We understand the current economic situation so we try to accommodate entrepreneurs who don’t want to get tied up with long leasing contracts,” he explained.

For those who are looking for the perfect location, he said that there are still stalls and units available on a first-come-first-served basis.

“We have very affordable rates at VS Sablan Plaza. Our prime units are leased for 85 cents per square foot, while units facing the parking lots are rented out for only 75 cents per square foot,” said sablan.
