The inaugural season of the Garapan Basketball League’s IT&E Cup has been pushed back a week for a second time and will now kick off on Oct. 29 at the Garapan Basketball Court.

Organizers postponed the start of the competition to give teams more time to acquire their uniforms.

The season opener will start at 4pm and awards will be presented to the teams with the best muse and best uniform.

The eight teams that have signed up include Haus-Satbahi, Ol’Aces, FGC Construction, R-Rebels, Mobil, Andocks, NMC Proa, and Konflikt-IT&E Blue.

A cash prize of $1,000 is at stake, plus trophy, to the champion team, in addition to various individual awards and other prizes.

After conclusion of the regular season a single-elimination playoff format will take place with the top seed earning an automatic semifinals berth. The last place team will be out of the running.

The upcoming season represents the first of a three-leg series.

The second season will run from April to June 2012 and the final leg is targeted from October to November 2012.

The GBL also announced the addition of its new photo booth where the IT&E player of the game will be recognized after each game.

In addition, the GBL will have a medical representative on hand during games in case of injuries. Organizers also plan on providing video footage during the post season to help resolve controversial plays.
