Kim wins CWGA September Ace
Lou Kim won the CNMI Women’s’ Golf Association September Ace of the Month after shooting a net score of 76 last Oct. 8 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
Kim posted a 46 on the front and a 47 on the back to finish with a gross score of 93, which minus her 17 handicap gave her the second-lowest net score of the day.
The lady golfer who registered the lowest post-handicap score of the day actually was Masayo Miyamoto who was good for a net 74, but since she already won the monthly honor last July, runner-up Kim took the October tiara.
Miyamoto scratched a 41 on the font nine and remained consistent with an even 40 after the turn.
Yuko Togawa settled for third place with her net card of 78 built around a 44 on the front and an impressive 38 on the back for a gross of 82.
Togawa actually finished in a three-way tie for third place with Sun Suk Kim and Lorraine Babauta, but received the nod thanks to her miniscule 4 handicap.
With her win in the October competition, Kim joins last month’s ace Mio Kim along with past aces Young In Jeon (May), Sun Suk Kim (June), Miyamoto, and Noriko Togawa (August).
The CWGA utilizes a standard net score format, where a predetermined point system is tallied during the season.
First place is awarded 15 points, 14 for second, and so on down through the Top 10 place finishers, and the rest receive a point for participation.
Established in March 2007, CWGA is a nonprofit organization founded to promote, encourage, and introduce women to the sport of golf in the CNMI. The group plays once a month leading up to its finale two-day event in April.
Next month’s event is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 12. However, the venue is yet to be determined.
