Battle of Champions moved to Saturday
The VFW Post 3457 Battle of the Champions 9-Ball Tournament will now take place tomorrow instead of Sunday, starting at 6pm.
The Battle of Champions will feature 16 players who topped the weekly competitions in the past four months. The list include Mark Butac, Eugene Borja, Erwin Gomez, Jimmy Wang, Taylor Watanabe, Mike Pangelinan, Chester Cuento, Fred Robiego, Vic Hocog, Butch Pangelinan, Richard Santos, Simon Kapileo, George Pangelinan, Rolly Villanueva, Rico Montano, and Eric Caisip.
Entrance fee for the Saturday tournament is $20 and cash prizes and gifts from Budweiser and Pacific Amusement await the 16 qualifiers.
Meanwhile, before the finale this Saturday, VFW Post 3457 hosted one more weekly event with Kapileo topping the Oct. 8 competition.
Kapileo was unbeaten in four games, winning over Hocog in the first round, Jerry Soriano in the second, Borja in the semis, and then Wang in the finals. Wang also prevailed in his first round match over Watanabe and moved to the winner’s bracket semis after downing Borja. With Wang losing in the winner’s bracket semis, he fell to the loser’s bracket and had to edge Watanabe to earn a rematch against Kapileo.
