General membership meeting on Oct. 8
Saipan Little League Baseball Inc.’s general membership meeting for the upcoming 2012 season will be held at 9am on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the pavilion adjacent to the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
All active members, managers, coaches, umpires board members, and parents are encouraged to attend.
In addition, the SLLB this year will be collecting a $5 membership fee, which is required in order to participate in the board election.
The election takes place next week and all interested individuals are welcome.
Last season, the SLLB played musical chairs for the presidential seat.
In the end board member Annie Flores served as acting president, however, before her Robert Guerrero was initially voted in during the general membership meeting held before the start of the season.
Being an active umpire, Guerrero stepped down at season’s start and board member Claudia Leon-Guerrero tended to the responsibility. Then around the start of the playoffs, Flores appeared and claimed the title of acting president.
All the while, others claimed that Tony Rogolifoi was voted in as president in a separate meeting held at mid-season during the time of limbo.
As a result of management woes, Little Leaguers reluctantly waited four months after completion of the season to receive their trophies.
Moreover, opening day was postponed by a week at the start of the season, uniforms came in late, the electronic scoreboard did not work, and the SLLB was also routinely endured scheduling issues with umpires throughout the season.
