U.S. Probation Officer Gregory F. Arriola yesterday submitted a petition requesting for the issuance of summons for one of the five suspects in a driver’s license scam at the Department of Public Safety.

Arriola stated in his petition that Mohammad Jahangir Miah, who was placed under pretrial release supervision by U.S. District Court for the NMI visiting judge John A. Houston on Sept. 13, violated his pretrial release conditions.

The probation officer also requested for a hearing to be set wherein the defendant be held to answer or show cause why his bail should not be revoked or modified.

Miah, an auto shop owner accused of conspiring with four others in the scam, admitted to violating his bail conditions when he was found in possession of marijuana on May 25 when a detective found it in Miah’s room during a search at his house.

On July 16, Miah was arrested at a residence in As Lito for disturbing the peace and contempt. He was released from the Department of Corrections after two days.
