10-day prison sentence for burglar

The Superior Court has imposed a 10-day jail term on a man who burglarized a restaurant in Tanapag and stole a freezer and other items.

Associate judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced Sylvestry M. Amirez to five years in prison, all suspended except for 10 days, for burglary and theft.

Govendo gave the 26-year-old Amirez credit for the six days he had already served in jail.

The judge placed Amirez on probation for five years and required him to pay $500 fine, $100 court costs, and restitution to Joo Yoon Yeom

Amirez was required to write of letter of apology to Yeom and perform 200 hours of community service.

The defendant pleaded guilty to burglary and theft as part of a plea bargain.
