Cell Pro enter finals opposite MBI

Cell Pro secured the second finals berth in the 2011 Blue Haus Invitational Basketball League after beating Sherwin Williams, 75-71, last Friday at the Garapan Basketball Court.

The team made a statement after the tip and jumped out to a daunting 19-point lead, 26-7, after the opening 10 minutes. Roger Herrera spearheaded the surge with nine points.

Sherwin Williams’ offense showed up in the second quarter, but they still trailed, 31-42, at halftime. Sherwin Williams gunner Dado Vistal scored eight points in the second quarter.

Sherwin Williams buckled down after the break and rallied its way back to within a basket, 53-55, heading into the final canto. Jun Tabora led Sherwin Williams’ comeback with eight markers.

Cell Pro’s Rocycl Ritual nailed two clutch treys in the fourth quarter to help put his team on top come the final buzzer.

Shorthanded in the game, Sherwin Williams dressed seven players in the match and ran out of steam in the final period.

Cell Pro’s Herrera stepped up big and led all scorers with 27 points, while Sherwin Williams’ Tabora managed 20 in the loss.

Cell Pro’s win forged a championship duel against early finalist MBI. The awards presentation will be held following the championship game.
