Rep. Teresita Santos (Ind-Rota) introduced on Friday a local bill appropriating $6,000 for the operations and activities of the Rota Casino Gaming Commission for fiscal year 2011, even as the lone casino operator on island has remained temporarily closed and another investor with a conditional license to operate a casino has yet to begin operations.

Santos, in her House Local Bill 17-58, gave a breakdown of where the $6,000 will be used.

These include $2,500 for the executive director’s salary, $1,000 for professional services, $2,000 for communications, $300 for repairs, and $200 for ground maintenance.

The chair of the commission is the expenditure authority for the funds requested.

The commission granted a conditional license to Rota Resort & Country Club on July 15, allowing the company to operate a casino in its premises.
