A man tagged by authorities as a supplier of methamphetamine or “ice” on Tinian has pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal that would require him to serve six months in prison.

Mike Evangelista, 54, pleaded guilty to a count of illegal possession of controlled substance. As part of the plea bargain, the court dismissed one count of trafficking of controlled substance.

Superior Court associate judge David Wiseman sentenced Evangelista to six months in prison, to be served without parole. He will begin serving his sentence on Nov. 3, 2011. He was also required to pay a $500 fine.

After completing his prison term, Evangelista will be placed on probation for one year.

Using a cooperating source, the CNMI’s joint Drug Enforcement Task Force managed to buy $50 worth of “ice” from Evangelista on March 25, 2010, at his residence in San Jose, Tinian.
