The Mieko Carey Bike Race Fundraiser has added a kids course for the Sunday event that will take place at Banzai Cliff.

For U7 bikers, participants will ride one loop around the pavilion, while bikers in the 8-and-above age group will do three loops.

“There will also be a tricycle race for younger kids. This race will be held after all the other races have finished,” said Carey, who is holding the weekend event to raise funds for her participation in the 2011 XTERRA World Championships in Maui, Hawaii next month.

For adults races, there will be two divisions—MTB and road bike. The MTB course will be around the Banzai loop with riders in the long course doing four laps. The short course is only two laps. Bikers will start at Banzai Cliff and head to the Last Command Post, past the dump site, pedal down Cowtown Raceway, and go to the Banzai trail and back to the starting line.

For the road bike course, riders will also start at Banzai and cruise along Suicide Cliff, Bird Island, and Grotto before returning to Banzai.

Both the MTB and road races will start at 7:30am. Registration will begin at 6:30am and entrance fee is only $10.

Race winners will get prizes from IT&E, Brabu, and Gold’s Gym. Carey will also raffle prizes, which include Sunnto watches ( t4d), Sunnto sunglasses, Solomon Backpack, socks, hats, Zoot shoes size 10.5 for men and 8.5 for women, one night stay gift certificate from Hyatt Regency, one day Club Elan tickets, and other gifts from Triple J. Raffle ticket holders need not to be present to win.

Meanwhile, Carey would like to thank the following for supporting the fundraiser: Brabu, Triple J, Gold’s Gym, IT&E, Hyatt, Salomon, Sunnto, Zoot, Suzy Kindel, and Randy Steele.
