Make-A-Wish vies to become beneficiary of Subaru’s ‘Share the Love’
Make-A-Wish Foundation will have more chances of granting wishes to eligible children once they are selected as a beneficiary of the Subaru “Share the Love” event.
The Subaru “Share the Love” program will give $250 to charity for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from Nov. 19 through Jan. 3.
Victor P. Camacho, executive director for Make-A-Wish Guam-CNMI Chapter, said Subaru is looking to help one more charity to benefit from the event by “adding a social media crowdsourced voting element” to the event.
“There is one slot left for [non-profit organizations] vying to be one of five recipients of an anticipated $5 million from Subaru,” he told Saipan Tribune.
Camacho said Facebook fans of Subaru can vote for any of the four organizations—Make-A-Wish Foundation, Teach for America, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and American Red Cross—to win the “People’s Choice” charity award.
The Subaru of America Facebook page, Camacho said, is hosting the online voting, which started on Aug. 25 and will continue until Sept. 15.
Camacho urged the community to vote for Make-A-Wish Foundation in Subaru’s “Share the Love” program.
“This would have a tremendous impact on our collective ability to grant wishes to every eligible child,” said Camacho.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 after a young boy, Chris Greicius, realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since then, the foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work.
