Registrations continue to roll in at the Docomo Pacific store in Gualo Rai for the 2nd Annual Docomo Pacific Golf Classic this Labor Day Weekend. The tournament date is set for this Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the beautiful LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort with a tee time of 7:30am.

The tournament will consist of the following flights: Men’s Championship, A, B, C and Seniors and the Ladies Open. The top 3 scores from each flight will receive cash prizes of $300, $200 and $100 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

A bonanza of prizes with an estimated value of $20,000 will be raffled off. Some of the prizes include room nights and meals at Saipan’s finest hotels and restaurants, discount certificates at a variety of local businesses and golf accessories. Docomo Pacific will also be donating quite a few of the latest model phones such as the Blackberry and Samsung Galaxy.

Bank of Hawaii has once again sponsored $25,000 as a hole-in-one prize and Delta Air Lines has also sponsored roundtrip tickets for two to the U.S. mainland as their contribution for a hole-in-one prize. Pacifica Insurance also sponsored two closest-to-the-pin cash prizes.

The major sponsors this year are DFS Saipan Ltd., Tan Siu Lin Foundation, McDonald’s Saipan and Mobil. Special thanks to the Bank of Hawaii, Delta Air Lines, First Hawaiian Bank, Kautz Glass, Pacific Islands Club, Marianas Visitors Authority, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Saipan Shipping Company, DataDot Micronesia, Pacifica Insurance, Triple B Freight Forwarders, and the Marianas Eye Institute.

“This is the second year of hosting the tournament and the responses received from the business community have been great and we thank all the sponsors and donors for their contributions,” said James Nelson, Docomo Pacific’s general manager.

“This year, we’ve lowered the entry fee to $85,” said Nelson, “and golfers who are Docomo Pacific subscribers can enter for only $75 in appreciation of their commitment to Docomo Pacific. Times are tough, but we must continue to do all we can to support non-profit organizations that have a direct impact on our student community.”

Entry forms are available at all golf courses, as well as the Docomo Pacific store on Middle Road in Gualo Rai. Submissions of payments are accepted at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort and at Docomo Pacific. The deadline for entries is at 6pm, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, so golfers are encouraged to enter as soon as possible.
