The Senate confirmed yesterday Gov. Benigno R. Fitial’s appointment of Josepha A. Barcinas to serve on the Commonwealth Election Commission representing Rota.

The senators’ confirmation came two months after Fitial appointed Barcinas on June 9.

Sen. Frank Cruz (R-Tinian), chairman of the Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Governmental Investigations, along with the other panel members, recommended confirmation of the nominee in a committee report submitted on Thursday.

“After much deliberation and based on our overall assessment of Ms. Barcinas’s credentials, experiences, testimonials and all other relevant issues considered, we are convinced beyond a doubt that Ms. Barcinas possesses the necessary qualification and leadership skills necessary to serve as a member of the Commonwealth Election Commission,” the committee said.
