The public judicial investiture ceremony for newly commissioned U.S. District Court Judge Ramona Villagomez Manglona will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at 10am at the U.S. District Court in Garapan, Saipan.

Circuit Judge Mary Schroeder of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will deliver the keynote address and will swear in Manglona.

Other federal judges from Ninth Circuit courts and judges from the CNMI, Guam, and Micronesia will be in attendance. The public is invited to attend this ceremony.

On July 26, 2011, the U.S. Senate confirmed Manglona as judge of the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands. Three days later, on July 29, 2011, President Barack Obama signed Manglona’s commission. This marked the first time an indigenous person of the Northern Mariana Islands will serve as a federal judge—a historic moment for the Commonwealth.
