U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit judge Mary M. Schroeder is expected to be the keynote speaker during the investiture ceremony for U.S. District Court for the NMI chief judge Ramona V. Manglona on Saturday.

Saipan Tribune learned that the ceremony will be held in the courtroom located at the Horiguchi Building in Garapan at 10am.

Schroeder served as chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 2000 to 2007. She is the first woman to hold that position.

Federal and regional judges from the Pacific are also expected to join the ceremony.

Manglona was sworn-in as chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the NMI during a private ceremony on July 30. Frances M. Tydingco-Gatewood, chief judge of the U.S. District Court of Guam, administered Manglona’s oath of office.

The 44-year-old Manglona is the first female federal judge for the District Court for the NMI.
