Sobriety checkpoints on Saipan

The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting sobriety checkpoints on the following dates and time:

– Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, 9:30pm to 10:45pm: Chalan Pale Arnold Road, Gualo Rai, by Chong’s Refrigeration.

– Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, 1am to 2:15am: Beach Road, Garapan, by Bank Pacific.

– Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, 10pm to 11:15pm: Monsignor Martinez Road, As Lito, by the Food Stamp Office.

– Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, 12:30am to 1:45am: Monsignor Guerrero Road, Chalan Kiya, by the Waterloo.

– Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, 8:30pm to 9:45pm: Chalan Pale Arnold Road, Garapan, by Taro Sue Store.

– Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, 11:30pm to 12:45am: Beach Road, Chalan Kanoa, by Super Fresh Store.

– Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, 9:30pm to 10:45pm: Chalan Pale Arnold Road, Chalan Laulau, by IT&E.

– Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, 12:00am to 1:15am: Beach Road, Susupe, by the Minachom Atdao Pavilion.

Each checkpoint will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes). In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser (speed detection) enforcement activities.

This activity is part of the department’s effort to deter, detect and apprehend impaired drivers and to ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.
