All NMI residents eligible to apply at Sandy Beach Homes
The Sandy Beach Homes residential complex now under construction in Chalan Kanoa will be open to all legal CNMI residents, according to the project partners.
The six-story, 60-unit residential project is scheduled for completion in December 2011 and will be open to all residents who meet income and other eligibility requirements.
“We’re exceptionally pleased with the progress of construction, and we look forward to opening our leasing office on Sept. 12 so people can start planning to move in January 2012,” said Sandy Beach Homes managing member Bob Jones. “We also want to be clear that the opportunity to stay at Sandy Beach Homes will be open to all legal CNMI residents, even if they are not U.S. citizens, as long as they meet the income and other eligibility requirements.”
Each of the homes has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, washer/dryer, A/C, insulated double-paned windows, water purification system, and ceiling fans in every room. Additional amenities include a balcony overlooking Saipan’s western lagoon, a parking garage, typhoon shutters, and security cameras. The facility also includes backup generator and water supply. Four ADA units will also be available.
“The building was designed with ‘green’ energy efficiency in mind, so each unit has a solar hot water and the appliances are Energy Star rated,” said Jones. “It’s our intention that the families who get accepted into Sandy Beach Homes will have not only beautiful homes on the beach to enjoy, but also the opportunity to save money.”
The Sandy Beach Homes complex sits in the heart of Chalan Kanoa, with several stores, banks, schools, churches and the main post office located within walking distance.
Jones added that Sandy Beach Homes will also be launching a website soon to provide more information to interested applicants, including income guidelines. The housing complex is funded under a federal housing program through Northern Marianas Housing Corp. (PR)
