House worker allegedly stole three checks and forged them
Police arrested on Tuesday a house worker who allegedly stole and forged three personal checks totaling $515 belonging to the daughter of her then employer.
Carmencita L. Castillo, 50, was arrested in Garapan for theft and forgery. She was allowed Wednesday to post a $500 unsecured bond.
Police said that Castillo admitted taking the checks from her then employer’s dresser, then forging and using the checks at a store.
Amanda Deleon Guerrero Tudela and her mother reported the incident to police on April 25, 2011. In her statement to the police, the mother said she was at her workplace on April 21 when an employee of Ming Yang Store in San Vicente approached her to collect money from invalid or insufficient checks that belonged to her daughter, Tudela.
Tudela then discovered that the accounts from which the checks were made out to had been closed for many years. Tudela claimed she no longer uses those personal checks because she uses her check card.
When the mother confronted Castillo about the forged checks, Castillo allegedly admitted to stealing and forging the checks because she needed the money. Castillo was immediately terminated.
