Let me refresh your memory
Thank you Mr. Keiper for your service to our country but allow me to refresh your memory in case you forgot.
First of all, Bush was supposed to go to war in Afghanistan because that’s where OBL was but no, Bush want to go to Iraq too and neglected Afghanistan. The Democrats never started these two wars and to be more clear and concise and to the point, it was on the Republican’s watch when the financial market crashed, so it’s the Republicans who created this global financial disaster we’re facing today.
Let me refresh your good memory.
A. Vice President Cheney was a big part of this financial mess with his companies raking in billions as partners of the corporate contractors in both wars in his eight years in office. He later asserts that “the government has absolutely nothing to do” with his financial success as chairman of Halliburton Co. Go figure.
B. When Brooksley E. Born, chairperson of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, became alarmed by the lack of oversight of the secretive, multi trillion-dollar shady derivatives, and warned Congress that the economy was going to crash, the Republicans in charge brushed her off and ignored the truth and here we are today, trying to dig ourselves out of the big, wide, deep hole.
C. When the global economy came crashing down, Bush bailed out the richest people on Wall Street and the bankers to try to save our global financial market with TARP, even as a lot of Americans are bearing the brunt of this financial disaster now, as people struggle and suffer to save their mortgages, 401k, homes, cars and put food on the table.
D. As Bush was leaving office, America was losing 700,000 jobs a month, leaving a huge massive financial mess for President Obama to clean up. When President Obama came into office he found a terribly damaged economy that he didn’t anticipate and he explained to the American people this will be an uphill battle for years to come, if not for decades to come, as Republicans play the blame game.
In conclusion, the get-rich-quick Republicans don’t want to cooperate or at least compromise as this U.S. President has been treated unfairly while all these rich millionaires and billionaires are sitting on the sideline and not putting people to work. The worst I see is the flying shoe in Iraq thrown at President Bush; that was a horrible way to leave office.
