The Department of Public Lands is now working on soliciting proposals from investors interested in leasing the former Rota Paupau Hotel in Liyo, Rota.

DPL secretary Oscar M. Babauta said a group of Chinese investors has cancelled the lease on the property, previously operated by a Japanese investor group.

“Right now, we’re in the process of preparing the RFP [request for proposal],” he said.

DPL is also conducting an assessment of the property. Babauta said the hotel sits on 22,000 square meters or 2.2 hectares of public land.

The former Rota Paupau Hotel has two separate buildings, 72 hotel rooms, office spaces and a restaurant.
