Shorties, F-Rollers, TUGZ take top honors on FIBA 33 caging
U12’s Shorties, U15’s F-Rollers, and U17’s TUGZ were crowned champions of their respective divisions in last Saturday’s FIBA 33, three-on-three basketball competition at the Garapan Basketball Court.
Shorties’ C.J. Morales, Maeog Metran, Joshua Alfred, and Kenji Abobo defeated We Are True, 21-14, in the U12 finals. Morales carried the torch with 13 points; the halftime scores were not made available. Six teams made up the division.
F-Rollers’ Jeran Ano, Deon Sabino, Toshi Pangelinan, and Braylan Florensca routed Boys To Win, 21-4, in the U15 title match.
A well-balanced attack in the opening frame gave the F-Rollers a 12-2 margin at the half and Sabino secured the win with a string of seven points in the clutch; he led all scorers in the game. Six teams made up the division.
TUGZ’s John Cenir, John Darag, Mike Taitano, and Dixon Kwon defeated Big 3, 24-14, but individual scoring statistics were not made available. Four teams made up the division.
A total of 16 teams joined the event.
Notably, the Open Family division games were called off due to rain late afternoon.
All first place finishers received individual medals.
