Shirley’s caging eyes Aug. 28 opening

The 3rd Annual Shirley’s Coffee Shop Invitational Basketball League is aiming for an Aug. 28 kick-off at the TSL Sports Complex.

League coordinator Boy Lingcaso said so far 10 teams have already confirmed their participation in the caging and only two more slots are available. The list includes inaugural champion Micronesian Brokers, Inc., Mobil, PSS/McGraw-Hill, Hyatt, Hanwa/World Resort, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Pacific Trading, Wushin, Bank of Guam, and host Shirley’s.

Each team is allowed to recruit only five players outside their companies.

Organizers are planning to hold games in the Shirley’s caging every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Meetings and other details about the league will be announced later.

Last year, 10 teams joined the second edition of the Shirley’s caging with Pacific Islands Club winning over Aqua Resort Club in the best-of-three title series. In 2009, MBI swept Advance in the best-of-three finals,
