A woman was injured when the man who was fixing her sewing machine at her dress shop in Chalan Kanoa suddenly attacked her with a hammer on Monday night.

Zhao Fei Cui was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center where two spots on her head had to be stapled.

The suspect, Feng Xiang Yang, surrendered to the Department of Public Safety the following day, Tuesday.

Detective Jonathan SN Decena said the victim positively identified Yang as the person who attacked her.

Yang, 45, was arrested for aggravated assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $25,000 cash.

Detective Decena stated in his report that police officers had responded to the Sofia Dress Shop on Monday night after receiving a report about an assault.

Police investigation showed that victim Cui was watching a movie on her computer inside the shop when Yang walked in and introduced himself as the person Cui had asked two weeks ago to come and fix her broken sewing machine.

Cui asked Yang to bring the machine to his house, but the suspect insisted on fixing it there.

As soon as Yang finished fixing the machine, he allegedly hit Cui with a hammer on the head. The victim screamed and, seeing a passerby, she yelled at him to call the police.

Cui grabbed the hammer and held on to it as Yang pulled her all the way to the entrance of the shop, where he eventually ran off.
