UFO Docomo Pacific Cup draws 9 teams
The UFO Inter-Organization Youth and Masters Basketball Docomo Pacific Cup 2011 so far has attracted nine teams and slots are still available, as the league will not kick off until next week.
In an email to Saipan Tribune, UFO president Bong Malasarte said five teams have already registered for the youth division, while the masters category has four. The youth division for 15 to 20 age group has the MDX Amateur Radio Club/Armatech Team, Samahang Laguna/Unity Lions Club, Northern Marianas Bartender Association/G-Rollers, Samahang Manggagawang Filipino/Melvin Demonteverde Team, and Samahang Ilokano & Pangasinense/Flor Miranda Team. The masters teams (for 40-and-above age group) list include MDX Amateur Radio Club/Armatech Team, Association of Filipino Presidents/Ed Yalung, Samahang Ilokano & Pangasinense /Andok’s Grill, and Marianas Filipino Engineers & Architecs /Hector Sevilla.
UFO caging organizers are hoping to have at least six teams each in the masters and youth divisions and the league will open next Sunday at the Civic Center Basketball Court in Susupe. The opening ceremony is set for 2pm and three games will be played in the opening day with the first one scheduled in Susupe and the last two at the TSL Sports Complex.
Entrance fees for the youth and masters divisions are $350 and $500, respectively, exclusive of uniforms.
Representatives of confirmed teams and those interested in joining the competition are requested to attend a meeting tonight at 6pm at the pavilion near the Civic Center.
